Designing Women Boutique’s strategy from the beginning has been to raise the bar for the consignment category and establish a clear point of difference. Designing Women Boutique defined its niche quite narrowly: “innovative marketing of unique couture apparel and fine home furnishings.” The choice of the word “couture” is an interesting one. Obviously, we do not mean it literally, though we receive an impressive amount of custom-made clothing and the occasional bona fide couture piece. But it is a good way to keep ourselves and our clientele focused on designer brands and merchandise in top condition. One of the great things about Designing Women is that you will likely find a brand-new or worn-once something at a tiny fraction of its original retail price.
