DWB has bestowed $8,000,000 in grants and merchandise to more than 100 non-profit recipients, setting a high standard in philanthropy. GroundWorks is the most recent undertaking, engaging a group of established and successful non-profits that bring wide perspectives to the program.
This synergistic initiative creates collaboration with area educational and community organizations to strategically leverage the process of raising meaningful and ongoing funds for scholarships, and has received generous support from our Marketing Sponsor, BMO Wealth Management, a grant from The Frank E. Duckwall Foundation for technical upgrades, and our generous donors. GroundWorks’ primary objective is to create a unique, continuous community-wide scholarship and educational advancement program, and it is joined with eight well known community institutions. With these partnerships, GroundWorks unites educational organizations, donors and recipients to enrich and deepen the impact made in this community.
Each organization is expected, through their committee, to access and solicit refined, highly desirable items for consignment to DWB for resale in the boutique. In addition, these organizations will hold special, promotional sales events sponsored by DWB, and in-house and private home parties, all super powered by DWB’s respected status in the community and their marketing machine.
DWB Board Liaisons mentor partners in the management of their programs. Proceeds for each educational and community organization is held in restricted accounts to fund and strengthen educational and scholarship opportunities. These monies are awarded to the participating organizations each Spring in an event designed to showcase their selected recipients.
Furthering the scope of GroundWorks, DWB’s access to exclusive businesses throughout the area brings unique learning and scholarship opportunities to the recipients. This alliance of participants ensures exciting opportunities for creative and meaningful growth of the program, drawing on years of experience, strength and proactive work by all.
GroundWorks hosts a workshop entitled “Life Skills,” designed for girls and women who need to interview for financial aid or for a job interview. The workshop provides the tools and techniques that empower students in advancing their life goals.
